Pamela M Holmes cooked her first Thanksgiving dinner at the age of 9. Born 10th of 11 children to parents from the heart of Mississippi, Ms. Holmes credits her mother and father for her expertise in the kitchen. "They were both phenomenal cooks." If I have captured the essence of the food they put on the table for us, I consider my work a success. Ms. Holmes cooking first gained national notoriety on YouTube where her channel, The Joy of Soul Food receives hundreds of thousands of views and rave reviews from subscribers. Ms. Holmes, a devout foodie, leans toward healthy choices in her soul food cooking "because, afterall the longer you live, the more you get to eat!

This site is dedicated to those who love the comfort, flavor and satisfaction of soul food. We have posted the world's favorite soul food recipes, how to cook video demonstations and family food stories to share our love of soul food with you. Try them out for yourself and maybe even restart the tradition of Sunday Dinner with your family and friends. We teach you how to cook the way we were taught. Our recipes and menu selections are quick and easy and whenever possible, we have altered the ingredients, but not the taste, to provide healthy soul food recipe options.
We do take special requests. If you would like us to prepare a menu item not found on our site, let us know and we will create it especially for you. HOWEVER, I DO NOT MAKE CHITTERLINGS SO PLEASE DON'T BOTHER ASKING. Maybe one day I will have a guest chef do that, maybe!
